*** Vendor comments*** "Having rented in Cecil Court for four years, my mother knew instantly that she wanted to make this flat her home when it came up for sale ten years ago. As an active wheelchair user with a full-time job in London and a busy social life, she found that every aspect of this lovely flat suited her perfectly.
Built in the 1930s, the property offers a sense of space and character rarely found in modern developments or conversions. Situated on the ground floor, it provides easy, step-free access both to the flat itself and to the beautifully maintained communal gardens. Large, sunny windows in the living room and two of the bedrooms offer delightful views over the gardens, filling the home with natural light.
The flat features three generously sized double bedrooms. The master bedroom, with its own discreet en-suite shower room, provided my mother with a peaceful retreat. The second spacious bedroom comfortably accommodated frequent overseas guests, while the third served as a versatile home office. Ample built-in storage is available in every bedroom. The large, separate kitchen offers plenty of cupboard space—ideal for those who love to cook or entertain. One of the true highlights of the home is the original parquet flooring, which we lovingly restored after discovering it beneath the old carpet. The flat was also fully repainted upon moving in, creating a fresh and welcoming space. A full family bathroom completes the well-balanced layout.
The location is exceptionally convenient. Sandilands tram stop is directly opposite the building, with regular services just three stops from East Croydon station—a commuter’s dream, with fast and frequent trains to several central London destinations. The local area offers excellent amenities, including major shopping centres like Centrale and the vibrant food, drink and entertainment options at Boxpark Croydon. Families will also appreciate the availability of good schools nearby.
This flat was a much-loved home for my mother until health circumstances required her to move closer to family—a decision made with great reluctance. She loved this flat, the Croydon community, the convenience, and the diversity the area had to offer."
