About this property

Renovated to an exacting standard, this wonderful apartment is on the third floor of Spitalfields' Exchange Building. Crittall-style doors span the width of the living area, illuminating the interior with a beautiful quality of natural light and opening to a generous balcony with uninterrupted views. The building is a short walk from some of east London's best-loved spots, including Redchurch Street, Arnold Circus and Columbia Road.

    The Tour

The Exchange Building opens into a communal lobby with soaring ceilings and marble tiling; a calming water feature sits in the left-hand corner. There is a 24-hour concierge and two glass lifts that ascend to all floors, in addition to stair access.

On the third floor, this apartment's double door entrance opens into a generous area with plenty of integrated cupboard space.

The kitchen is cleverly recessed from the hallway. Arresting marble countertops pair beautifully with matt-black valchromat units. Integrated appliances are principally from Miele and Siemens; there is also a generous, full-height wine fridge.

Wide oak floorboards continue from here into the living space, which has been carefully reconfigured and arranged predominantly in an open plan. A suspended Cocoon bioethanol fire hangs in the corner, doubling as a distinctive, sculptural feature and as a warming focal point while also highlighting the ceilings that stretch over 3 meters overhead.

A generous, double bedroom lies to one side of the living room. Tall ceilings continue here, which accommodate generous fitted overhead cupboards. A smart en suite adjoins, articulated with subtle terrazzo-style tiling.

At the rear of the sitting room is an office or guest sleeping space, delineated by Crittall-style glazing that allows light to permeate. The room has deep-green walls and a bank of generous fitted storage.

Next to the front door is a large bathroom with green cement mosaic tiles from Bisazza and a large Lusso Stone oval bath finished with matt-black fixtures.

The apartment also has a secure car parking space, accessed from the basement level.

    Outdoor Space

Extending from the northern side of the apartment, a peaceful, private balcony is a brilliant spot to sit and admire the view across east London. Decking runs underfoot, providing space for a table, chairs and potted plants.

From the communal lobby is a generous shared terrace, used by residents for social gatherings during the summer.

    The Area

The Exchange Building is positioned in the heart of Spitalfields, close to Brick Lane and Fournier Street, best known for its exceptionally well-preserved Huguenot houses. The area's namesake market, in operation since the 13th century, is minutes away.

There are plenty of opportunities nearby for dining: Ottolenghi, Galvin, St. John Bread & Wine, Bistro Freddie, Manteca and Padella are all nearby. Crispin serves delicious Dusty Knuckle bread in the morning and a solid menu of wine come evening. Cocktail bars nearby include Discount Suit Company and Callooh Callay.

Arnold Circus is a 10-minute walk away and sits surrounded by restaurants and independent retailers including Leila’s Shop, Rochelle Canteen and Blue Mountain School. Redchurch Street and Columbia Road are also within walking distance; the former is home to Labour and Wait, Jolene Bakery, Smoking Goat and Michelin-star restaurant Brat, while the latter plays host to an eponymous Sunday flower market.

Liverpool Street station is a five-minute walk from the apartment and runs Underground (Central, Circle, Hammersmith & City, Metropolitan and Elizabeth lines), Overground (Weaver line) and National Rail services. Services connect to to Heathrow and Stansted airports in approximately 50 minutes. Shoreditch High Street and Moorgate stations are also nearby and run Overground (Windrush line) and the Northern line respectively.
