Location
Milton Abbot is a pretty village approximately six miles from Tavistock, there is a public house and a very well regarded primary school. The village has a lot going for it... The Milton Abbot community group organises fun trails for children at Easter/Halloween, there is an annual 'Big Bash' village party on the village green in the summer, which is a continuation of the ancient Cherry Fair festival. The village hall hosts events organised by local people including indoor horse racing evenings (like a giant board game!) and the Village Show each September which is a great community event.
Tavistock is a thriving 'stannary' and award winning market town on the western edge of Dartmoor National Park. With regular farmers' markets and a large variety of independent shops and cafes, the town is rich in history dating back to the 10th century and is famed for being the birthplace of Sir Francis Drake. The area offers a full range of schools both State and Private with Plymouth being only 15 miles away with fast rail links into London, Bristol and the North. Tavistock offers a range of leisure facilities including a swimming pool, squash and tennis clubs and golf course.
Situation
The property sits close to the village hall and also within easy level walking distance of the Edgcumbe Arms Public House and the well regarded Milton Abbot County Primary School. The property is in the catchment for Tavistock College and there is a School bus to and from provided for free by the local authority. An alternative option is a funded local authority taxi to the closest (non-catchment) Launceston College.
Accommodation
Positioned in the heart of Milton Abbot with superb views across the surrounding countryside is this stunning, immaculately presented period cottage.
The cottage is considered to be one of the oldest original properties in Milton Abbot (built circa 1805) and has been sympathetically modernised over recent years, to retain its original character and charm.
The light and airy accommodation, heated by a modern gas combi boiler is spread over two floors and a stone outbuilding... Entrance porch, spacious living/dining room with log burning stove, a good size dining kitchen and extended family room/office with bi-fold doors to the covered BBQ/Sun deck. Upstairs there are three double bedrooms, an en-suite cloakroom plus a family bathroom.
The outbuilding has a vaulted ceiling, light and power plus a WC. The South facing garden is a real sun trap and has access to the front where the property is set back behind a pretty fore garden and driveway providing off road parking for two vehicles.
The adjoining 2 bedroom cottage is also available for sale so if you are looking for a detached property with an annexe this would be perfect... Please get in touch for more information on this option.
